Notable Rulesets
Top 3 Rulesets | Bottom 3 Rulesets |
What Doesn't Kill You - All monsters are granted increased speed and melee attacks when damaged. This can allow you to deal an even more devastating blow with retaliate. | Back to Basics - keep in mind that monsters lose all abilities with this ruleset. Consider whether your monster with retaliate is worth including in your lineup. |
Melee Mayhem - Melee monsters can attack from any position. Placing your monster with retaliate in the first position or as fodder for sneak and opportunity monsters will ensure that they are targeted - triggering the retaliate ability. | Keep your Distance/Going the Distance/Wands Out - Melee attack monsters may not be used rendering retaliate ineffective per these rulesets. |
Spreading Fury - Increasing stats when damaged is ideal for monsters with retaliate - they have a 50% chance of attacking their attacker! | Briar Patch - Ensure that your monster can take what it dishes out when Thorns are involved. After taking damage from an attacker, retaliating only to take thorn damage may destroy any chance at victory. |
Notable Abilities
Top 3 Abilities | Bottom 3 Abilities |
Enrage - monsters have increased stats when damaged. Consider the benefits that increased melee attacks will grant your monster with retaliate. | Demoralize - -1 to all melee attacks. When played by your opponent, your monster with retaliate may not be able to cause significant damage. |
Protect - Protecting your retaliating monsters health stat by providing +2 armor will keep them in the game longer. |
Stun - If your opponent uses stun, your monster will not be able to attack or retaliate. Consider this within rulesets where the use of Stun is encouraged such as Heavy Hitters. |
Inspire - +1 melee attack is exceedingly valuable where retaliate is involved. Defeat attacking monsters for good! | Headwinds/Blind - Any ability which decreases your likelihood of successful melee attack is an enemy to retaliate. Missing such an attack can provide your opponent the opening they need to win. |
Remarkable Interactions
