Backfire
"If an enemy misses this Monster with an attack, the attacker takes 2 damage."
Considered as Physical Damage, the same as Melee and Ranged attacks.
Notable Rulesets
Top 3 Rulesets | Bottom 3 Rulesets |
Super Sneak - Place your fastest monster in the back making it more likely for your opponent to miss them | What Doesn't Kill You - Backfire might trigger the enrage ability, giving your opponent's monster increased speed and melee attack |
Up close and personal - Count on your opponent opting for attack power over speed. Include your fastest monster as the tank | Reverse speed - this makes it more difficult for backfire to trigger particularly as there is no way to make your monsters Slower |
Holy Protection - If you play it right, backfire can serve as your first attack against your opponent. This allows for more attacks to land! | Aim True - Because attacks will always hit their targets, Backfire is useless as it will only trigger with missed attacks. |
Notable Abilities
Top 3 Abilities | Bottom 3 Abilities |
Dodge - Has an increased chance of evading melee or ranged attacks | Stun - preventing an opponents monster from attacking will prevent backfire from triggering |
Flying - has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the flying ability. | True Strike - If your opponent plays a monster or summoner with True Strike, Backfire is nullified. Because these monsters can not miss their targets, backfire will not be triggered. |
Swiftness - all friendly monsters have increased speed. Dodging attacks is the key to success. | Snare - If your opponent plays a monster or summoner with snare, flying monster will have that ability removed. Making it more likely they will be struck, rather then missed as required for backfire to trigger. |
