SPLINTERLANDS CARDS
How do I get cards?
All players have access to a base set of starter cards to play the game. Additional cards may be obtained by purchasing booster packs, purchasing or renting specific cards from other players on the market, or by using Glint in the reward shop. Each Booster Pack contains five (5) randomly selected cards from the latest edition, with at least one card guaranteed to be Rare or better. The more Booster Packs you purchase, the better chance you have of finding powerful Epic and Legendary cards! Packs can be purchased from the Non-Card Market.
How do I level up my cards?
Splinterlands cards can be combined to gain increased stats and new abilities. Cards can be leveled up by combining multiple cards of the same type.
What are the different card sets?
Splinterlands periodically introduces new sets of cards for use within various game modes. While Wild Format allows cards from all sets to be used, Modern Format is limited to the two most recent sets. Review Modern and Wild: FAQ for additional detail.

What are gold foil cards?
Each card in the game has a regular version and a gold foil version. The gold foil versions of the cards have the same stats and abilities as the regular version and start out at a higher level than the corresponding regular version cards. They also require fewer cards to combine together to reach each level. Gold foil cards also provide a boost to earnings in ranked play, and can be used in special "gold foil only" tournaments which typically feature larger prize pools.

Choose a unique name upon account creation. Free to Play Splinterlands Accounts will have the suffix "_lite" attached to them until the Summoner's Spellbook has been purchased. Then, you will be able to choose a permanent account name. BLOCKCHAIN INTEGRATION
What blockchain does Splinterlands run on?
Splinterlands runs on the Hive blockchain, which is a public, distributed, and decentralized blockchain platform with a significant user base and a diverse set of applications that run on it. The Hive blockchain offers many unique features that make it one of the best currently available options for running a user-friendly blockchain-based game or application, such as fast and free transactions, human-readable wallet addresses, and account recovery options.
What are the advantages of a blockchain-based game?
In traditional card games, you had physical cards which you could trade or sell freely. Once games went digital, players lost that ability, and the cards were locked into that game and each player’s account. Through the use of blockchain technology, we can now have the best of both worlds where players can buy, sell, and transfer their digital assets, just like they can with physical assets.
In addition, blockchain technology introduced the concepts of true digital scarcity and complete transparency. For the first time, digital assets were created that are unable to be copied, or printed at will, and every transaction that takes place is published on a public, immutable ledger that cannot be falsified and that anyone can independently verify.
In the context of Splinterlands, that means that anyone can know exactly how many of each type of card exist, how many will ever exist, view and verify the historical record of each card, and more!
Can the blockchain handle a game like this?
You may have heard about various apps that bog down blockchain networks and cause very slow transaction times and high transaction fees. Splinterlands runs on the Hive Blockchain which uses a Delegated Proof of Stake consensus system that allows it to handle significantly more transactions than the other blockchains, and all with zero transaction fees (at a fair use policy).
