In Game Governance
On August 23rd, 2022 the First Proposal was introduced ushering in an era of player participation in the Splinterlands' DAO. If players have the Splinterlands' governance token Splintershards (SPS) staked to their account, they may participate in the In-Game Governance System.
**More info about the in-game governance can be found in the SPS Whitepaper
Voting Power
Each SPS token staked is equivalent to 1 vote, and your voting power represents the number of votes that you will contribute to the proposal you are voting on. Your vote power is calculated based on your staked SPS, minus any SPS that is currently in the process of being unstaked.
**Note: If you want to vote on a proposal and unstake your SPS, make sure you vote first, so your full power counts towards the vote. Once you start the unstaking process, whatever SPS you've selected to unstake will not be available as voting power until you cancel the unstaking.
Every proposal has two minimum requirements to pass:
- 10% of all currently staked SPS must be used to vote.
- 66% of the votes on a proposal must be FOR it passing.
**Note: Minimum requirements were changed as of the 08/30/2022 Update.
Voting on a Proposal
**Note: If a proposal is available for voting, a red dot will be visible in the upper right corner of your liquid SPS balance.
Step 1: Click your SPS balance, then go to the Proposals Tab and take a look at all the ACTIVE proposals/draft proposals:
Step 2: Make sure to read the entire proposal; by clicking the proposal title you will be forwarded to the full blog post.
Step 3: You will have the choice to vote FOR or AGAINST the current proposal:
FOR |
AGAINST |
Step 4: To finalize/submit a vote, a transaction has to be signed with your posting key.
**Note: You can always change your mind if the proposal is still open by resubmitting your current vote; this will require a new transaction, and the previous transaction will be canceled.
