How Do I Take a Screenshot?
If you are encountering a specific issue, tech support may request that you take a screenshot in order to better assist you. Here is a guide to taking screenshots with various devices.
Microsoft Windows Computer
- First, navigate to the window you wish to capture
- Press the windows key and the print screen (prntscn) key at the same time. Depending on your machine, you may have to use either ctrl+win+prntscrn or fn+win+prntscrn
- Locate the screenshot in your screenshots folder which is generally located within your pictures folder.
- Crop the screenshot using an image editing application if desired
Macintosh Computer
- First, navigate to the window you wish to capture
- Press and hold Shift, command, and 3
- A thumbnail may pop up, allowing you to crop the screenshot
- The screenshot should automatically save to your desktop
Android Smartphone
- First, navigate to the window you wish to capture
- Press and release the volume down button in addition to the power button
- A preview of your screenshot should pop up at the bottom of the screen
- Locate your screenshots folder within your albums folder.
Apple Smartphone
- First, navigate to the window you wish to capture
- For iPhone 13: Press and release the the side and volume up buttons at the same time
- For iPhones with Touch ID: Press and release the side OR top button in addition to the and home button at the same time
- Locate your screenshot within your Screenshots folder. Found by going to albumes, then media types.
Notes:
- When submitting an image to tech support via email, be sure to include it as an embedded image rather than a downloadable file
- If you are unable to take a screenshot successfully, search for a guide on how to take a screenshot with your specific device.
- You can also use a smartphone to take a literal picture of the screen, just be sure that the image is clear and sharp before sharing.
