What is KYC?
KYC stands for Know Your Client/Customer and is a set of protocols used to verify your identity. For this process, you'll need to provide a valid government-issued ID and a selfie. This security feature sets Splinterlands apart from other blockchain-based games as it protects the individual player and the overall integrity of the game. A rigorous identity verification process means that fewer scammers can access certain aspects of the game.
Why Didn't I Pass Identity Verification/KYC?
In order for the KYC process to be completed, you will need two things:
1. A valid, unexpired government-issued ID: If it is expired, it will not pass the KYC process. Make sure that photos of the ID are clear and without any glare. If your document has visible damage, it may cause an error that must be manually resolved.
2. A video of your face: Please avoid filters, silly faces, and extreme lighting. Brightness can cause a reflective glare which will result in a failed verification. If your physical appearance is significantly different than it was when your photo ID was taken and you have failed KYC, please submit a ticket to Tech Support.
Other Reasons for a Failed KYC Verification
1. Are you over 18? The KYC process will only allow those over 18 years of age to be verified. Although Splinterlands is intended for those over 16 years old, financial transactions must take place between adults and the company for legal reasons.
2. When asked to input your name, did you do so exactly as it appears on your license? Nicknames or differing spellings will cause a failed verification.
