This guide provides a brief explanation on how staking and unstaking splintershards (SPS) works, and how users benefit from leaving SPS staked within your account. What staking actually does, is lock the SPS in exchange for gaining passive rewards (returning both SPS & vouchers). The amount that is rewarded to each player depends on the total percentage of your stake vs everyone else's amount staked, so each player receives their own share depending on the value of what they are staking into the system. These funds may be unlocked at any time, but with a waiting period of four weeks to receive the full amount, slowly returning.
If you have some SPS present within your account that you would like to start staking, then you will need to first access the SPS management screen by clicking on the SPS icon. This button is located on the top of your screen next to your username on the browser website.
Once you arrive at the SPS management screen, you should see more information such as the Annual Percentage Rate (APR), which represents the percentage of expected return yearly in both vouchers and SPS rewards for staking. Underlined in green just above this section, is the total amount of liquid SPS in your account, which means this amount of SPS is spendable or transferrable, and not currently staked/locked. If you wish to stake the SPS for rewards, you must click on the "Stake" button, as shown circled in green on the screen.
Upon clicking the stake button, you should see this screen, which will allow you to enter the total amount of SPS. You can also enter a percentage of your total liquid SPS to stake, by pressing the buttons or entering a value manually. Then proceed to click on "Stake", to proceed with locking the wanted amount in.
You will then receive this message asking you if you are sure that you would like to confirm this transaction. This message will explain how long it would take to unstake your assets if you would like to have them unlocked.
After confirming, your total amount staked should now be updated with whatever amount you have selected. The staked amount will be displayed above the green line. Once it's staked, the SPS is locked and you are no longer able to transfer it, until it's unstaked.
Note: If you had any amount of SPS/Vouchers ready to be claimed before staking a new amount, these rewards will automatically be claimed and added to your liquid balances.
Underlined in purple within the image, you can see that there is a new amount of SPS liquid, while the rewards that were shown to be available within a previous image were reduced.
When you would like to start unstaking any SPS click on the SPS icon to get to the SPS management screen.
Here you see the total amount of SPS staked, as underlined in purple within the above screenshot. To proceed with unstaking select any amount of SPS you currently have locked in an click on the "Unstake" button, as shown circled in green.
From this new window, you may enter the total amount of SPS that you would like to start unstaking. Click on the "Unstake" button after entering the amount you would like unstaked. The unstaking process will take a period of four weeks. You will receive 25% of the designated amount per week. In this example, if I were to unstake 4 SPS, then I would receive 1 SPS for each week that passes. Or if you designated 100 SPS to unstake, you would receive 25 SPS weekly over four weeks.
Once processed, you should see a new message in the SPS management page, displaying the next date SPS will be returned. This will allow you to transfer it again.
